Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Little Investors (“we,” “us”) is an educational app that teaches children ages 10–13 about money and investing. We built it privacy-firstand in line with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices parents have.

The short version

  • Only a parent or guardian can create an account.
  • Children provide no personal information — just a nickname and an avatar.
  • We show no third-party ads and use no advertising trackers. We never sell data.
  • Parents can review or delete all of their family's data at any time.
  • All “investing” is a simulation with virtual money.

Information we collect

From the parent

  • Email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash) to create and protect the account.
  • Records of parental consent (that you agreed, the version, and when).

About each child (created and controlled by the parent)

  • A nickname (which should not be the child's real full name) and a chosen avatar.
  • A short profile PIN (stored only as a secure hash) so the child can switch into their own profile on the family's device.
  • Learning progress: lessons completed, quiz scores, XP, levels, streaks, and badges.
  • Simulated activity: the virtual portfolio, practice trades, and watchlist within the paper-trading game.

Automatically

  • Basic technical and security logs (such as request information) needed to run the service reliably and safely. We do not build advertising profiles.

What we do NOT collect from children

We do not ask children for, and the app does not require, a real name, email address, phone number, home address, precise location, photos, or audio/video. There is no chat, no social network, and no public profiles.

How we use information

  • To provide the lessons, quizzes, gamification, and paper-trading simulator.
  • To save and show each child's progress.
  • To send the parent an optional weekly summary email of their child's progress.
  • To keep accounts secure and prevent abuse.

Parental consent and your rights

We obtain a parent's consent at sign-up before any child profile is created. As a parent, you may at any time:

  • Review the information associated with your child's profile (visible in your parent dashboard).
  • Delete a child profile or your entire account, which permanently removes the associated data.
  • Withdraw consent and stop further collection by deleting the profile or account.

To make any request, contact us at littleinvestorsapp@gmail.com.

How information is shared

We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising. We use a small number of trusted service providers solely to operate the app:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and hosting of your data.
  • Vercel — application hosting and delivery.
  • Resend — sending the parent summary emails.

These providers process data only to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect safety.

How we protect data

  • Each family's data is isolated with database row-level security — one family can never read another's data.
  • Passwords and child PINs are stored only as secure hashes, never in plain text.
  • New passwords are checked against known breach databases to discourage compromised passwords.
  • Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).

Data retention and deletion

We keep information only as long as the account exists. When you delete a child profile or your account, the associated data is removed promptly.

Email communications

Parents may receive a weekly progress summary. You can opt out by contacting us, and account/security messages may still be sent as needed.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

The app is designed for use by children under a parent-managed account. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information without your consent, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify parents by email.
